On the final day of our Northeast Trip, Donna Lopiano was gracious enough to host Executive Producer Brenda VanLengen and the Real Media crew in her home.

There, Lopiano shared stories from her own athletic career in which she was a six-time national champion and nine-time All-American. She even played internationally in the first World Baseball Softball Confederation Women’s World Fast Pitch Championship.

She also reflected on her role in helping to establish Title IX regulations, her perspective on the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW), and the time she spent building the women’s athletics programs at the University of Texas.

As this trip draws to a close, we want to thank everyone who has made tax-deductible contributions to this project so far. Your support has allowed us to travel across the country collecting these important stories and amplifying these women’s voices. We are still fundraising, but have a great start. You can join our team here.

We already have our next trip planned, so stay tuned! You can find us on Twitter and Instagram at @IfNotForThem. Promo videos are available on our YouTube channel If Not For Them; Brenda VanLengen, Exec Producer.
