Executive Producer Brenda VanLengen was interviewed on the KMBZ afternoon show Dana and Parks about the state of women’s basketball and the progress of the “If Not For Them” docuseries. The interview was conducted a few hours before the 2024 WNBA Draft.
They started the episode talking about Brenda’s motivation to start the project and then transitioned into conversation about how the game has grown on and off the court.
“There have been these peaks, and then, we’ve plateaued. But I think right now, where we are, is kind of this amazing storm of social media, broadcast right, the fact that Caitlin Clark shoots the ball from 35 feet away from the basket and makes it consistently,” Brenda said. “People are just enamored and amazed by her incredible abilities but we wouldn’t know about it if it weren’t for television coverage. We wouldn’t know about it if there wasn’t a buzz on social media.”
